A stunning space just an hour from London with a hot tub, luxurious interior, marshmallows for the firepit and a horse trailer bar. The Cromwell tent, so named because the manor house once belonged to Oliver himself, is in its own paddock and has been kitted out with a deliciously comfortable bed, a wood burner and a private hot tub. Outside you’ll find the fire pit with bbq tools and marshmallows ready and waiting, although there’s more traditional cooking equipment in the communal kitchen a couple of minutes walk away. Here you’ll also find the shepherd’s hut showers and loos, which Cromwell shares with seven other tents dotted around other areas of the 20 acres of gentle Cambridgeshire land. That’s also where the horse trailer bar has parked up, ready to serve you something local to get your evening going.

It’s no coincidence that the beer is local either. Owner Max has carefully ensured that the tents do only good, with responsible and sustainable sourcing that runs from building their own hot tubs to finding biodegradable teabags. Although you won’t need asking twice, they encourage you to explore the area. Discover the incredible wildlife that thrives in the SSSI, the nine-mile circular around Grafham Water and the activities available nearby, from kayaking and archery to trout fishing. Yoga classes can be arranged, there’s croquet on the lawn and you can even brave a dip in the lake too. The one suggestion you probably won’t ignore is to visit the local pubs, with The Wheatsheaf only a few minutes away on foot and some lovely old coaching inns not far off. Whatever you get up to, you’ll be sinking into that beautiful bed at the end of the day relaxed and happy.
